Primrose Hill Events Committee set up

A new Primrose Hill Events Committee has been formed to explore how the Community Centre can generate funds for the Community Centre Lease Appeal, as well as to build up a range of events that are inclusive to all residents and draw in new members.

We are beginning to develop a programme for the year ahead. The next “Village Disco” will be on Friday 30th November. We are also working on a Halloween event for young people, a Fashion Show and a Wellness Day. We are aiming to put on one event a month on a Friday or Saturday night, and are also looking to revive the monthly Tuesday night talks (this time with cocktails!).

We are pleased to welcome the election (unopposed) of Tim Kirkpatrick as our first Events Committee Chair, who writes; “I am a recent arrival in Primrose Hill though I have lived in Camden for 18 years, and am delighted to find a functioning community centre here which I am pleased now to be a part of. I am an ex-psychiatric social worker, a trauma therapist and an ordained Buddhist, all of which give me an appreciation of the importance of community for our sense of sanity. And I like throwing parties and bringing people together for shared experiences! I look forward to meeting you, and perhaps finding a way in which we can share your passion with others to our mutual benefit and delight.

Expertise wanted for the committee

We are now looking for the following post holders to join us (individuals or teams):

  • A&R – talent spotting and booking live musicians and vocalists, actors and other performance artists.
  • Literary Agent – engaging prose and verse writers to share their work with us.
  • Outreach – developing links with our missing constituents and designing events to suit.
  • Catering – developing links with local food producers and cooks. Supper Clubs?
  • Mixologist – building community one cocktail at a time!

Next Meeting

The Committee meets monthly, the next meeting is on Sunday 9th September 5pm to 6pm at the Community Centre.  We welcome new members with an enthusiasm for community activities. We may end up running a core group with a wider membership if you want to be involved but cannot attend a monthly meeting.
